Unfortunately, Jim McGill passed away on the 22nd March 2010. For the last six years of his life, Jim lived with Michele in Ozankoy.

When Jim and Michele moved to Cyprus in June 2004, he recorded the events in a daily diary. He started from the minute that both he and Michele left their previous home in Scotland, recording events throughout the over-land drive across Europe.

When they arrived in Cyprus, Jim made the decision to continue recording his thoughts and experiences, but he wanted to post his daily entries on the internet.
I built the web site for Jim and helped him to post the initial entries. He was a smart man and within a matter of a few weeks, Jim's Cyprus website was up and running.

Jim was soon posting and maintaining his online diary himself. Initially, Jim recorded the things that happened as they waited for their villa to built, which made for very interesting reading.

I know that through his diary, Jim and Michele helped a lot of people and made many new friends in Cyprus and, if the viewing figures that the website 'still' receives, some 5 years later, are anything to go by, it seems that people are still enjoying reading Jim's account of moving to and living in Cyprus.

In life, things move on and eventually, a decision had to be made as to what should be done with Jim's Cyprus website. The traffic from nearly 200

Welcome to Jim and Michele's adventures in North Cyprus Michele and I had always intended to move to a warmer climate with a more relaxed way of life when I retired. We had visited on holiday the usual destinations and had short listed a few where we would consider retiring to. Then I was unexpectedly offered early retirement and we, after careful thought and after talking with our daughter Kimberly decided to bring our move forward. So from June 2003 we began our research into North Cyprus as a possible destination. We had been to the south on several occasions and this was on our short list but thought we would look at the North. I explored every avenue available during my research, internet, books and newspaper articles, during which we made many new friends through the internet bulletin boards both in North Cyprus and in the UK. The political situation discussed many times, we set up a list of 'for' and 'against' and decided it was time for a visit.

Jim's work is now helping charity organisations in Cyprus to promote their activities and fund-raising events and this is a fitting tribute to the hard work that Jim put into recording his comments and thoughts in his online Cyprus diary.
